Where did A Mindful Mind begin?
True to form, I was a late arrival to the [wellness] party. I found meditation at a time when the world as we knew it pressed pause, but my career kicked into overdrive. As a newly qualified mental health nurse, I was searching for solace. When the demands of work amplified, I would often find myself reacting to situations and people rather than responding. And I would allow rumination to run chaos in my mind.
After introducing a daily meditation or formal mindfulness practice, I began to see just how beneficial it was to sit quietly with myself. Meditation, for me, was and still is a place where I can unravel, observe and be at peace with myself, despite whatever may be going on for me. More than that, meditation taught me the power of pausing.
As my career in mental health nursing progressed I noticed there were others like me. People who wished to live free of, or in harmony with the woes that occupied their minds from time to time. But what I also noticed was how much self-doubt, inconsistency and confusion prevented people from engaging in and enjoying the practices of mindfulness and meditation.
Despite the plethora of mindfulness apps available, I see people experiencing difficulty integrating the essence of meditation and mindfulness into their daily lives. Apps don’t see individual’s, their lifestyle’s and unique circumstances. Humans do.
And this is how A Mindful Mind was born.
Meditation has helped me experience life through a different lens. The lens of compassion, curiosity and acceptance. And I’m here to help you on your journey. From providing motivation to sharing evidence-based strategies to compassionately listening, I hold the space for busy people like yourself to find their way back home to themselves. I passionately bring together spiritual and psychotherapeutic approaches to holistically support your mental health and wellbeing so you too can reap the benefits of a mindful mind.
